In France, you need a license to use a jet-ski/waverunner. A one day RYA course catering specifically to obtaining a licence for these craft is available, it’s the Personal Watercraft Certificate of Proficiency (PWC). This certificate comes with an official RYA translation which explains the course content, translations in French, German, Spanish and Italian.

Drivers and passengers should wear approved life jackets and adhere to speed limits and other rules made by state and local authorities. Personal water craft (waverunner, jet-ski…) are only allowed to operate in certain areas.

Sea urchins can be harvested anytime except from 16 April to 31 October.

Fishing license requirements

No fishing license is required for recreational fishing.

In France, there are limits on the size of fish and shellfish that can be legally taken for many species. Size limits are typically based on biological research into each species reproductive cycles. Minimum size limits generally allow fish to spawn at least once and contribute to the population before they are taken.

We strongly recommend that you ask your captain or the local office of the Affaires Maritimes for more information.
